Significance Analysis of HVXC Speech Coding Parameters at High Frequency

چکیده
Future end-to-end network delivering allows us to access anytime and anywhere to the video based multimedia contents. Ionosphere communications is part of the future network convergence and interoperability. Thus, this paper evaluates the significance of MPEG-4 coded speech parameters at a very low bit rate, 2 and 4 kbps transmitted over long distance short wave channels at high frequencies (HF) such as 20 and 30 MHz. As typical at these frequencies, it was assumed 2400 symb/s, 8-QAM, 16-QAM, 32-QAM and 64-QAM. The results show that the most significant parameter is V/UV at SNR less than 6 dB and the least significant ones are the parameters related to the unvoiced frames. Therefore, any access control, unequal error protection, data partitioning and grouping strategies covering a wide range of SNRs can then be designed based on the significance results presented in this paper. We also propose a solution to increase the error resilience of MPEG4 speech encoded signals over HF channels.

HILN-the MPEG-4 parametric audio coding tools
The MPEG-4 Audio Standard combines tools for efficient and flexible coding of audio. For very low bitrate applications, tools based on a parametric signal representation are utilised. The parametric speech coding tools (HVXC) are already available in Version 1 of MPEG-4. The main focus of this paper is on the parametric audio coding tools “Harmonic and Individual Lines plus Noise” (HILN) which ...
متن کاملCoding Speech at Very Low R and Temporal Deco
This paper presents a new method for speech coding at rates around 1.2 kbps based on STRAIGHT, a high quality speech analysis-synthesis method. For encoding spectral information, Modified Restricted Temporal Decomposition (MRTD) based vector quantization is used, where MRTD is a method of temporal decomposition for line spectral frequency parameters. Meanwhile, pitch and gain parameters are cod...
متن کاملLow-Dimensional Representation of Spectral Envelope Without Deterioration for Full-Band Speech Analysis/Synthesis System
A speech coding for a full-band speech analysis/synthesis system is described. In this work, full-band speech is defined as speech with a sampling frequency above 40 kHz, whose Nyquist frequency covers the audible frequency range. In prior works, speech coding has generally focused on the narrowband speech with a sampling frequency below 16 kHz. On the other hand, statistical parametric speech ...
متن کاملA hybrid time-frequency domain articulatory speech synthesizer
High quality speech at low bit rates (e.g., 2400 bits/s) is one of the important objectives of current speech research. As part of long range activity on this problem, we have developed an efficient computer program that will serve as a tool for investigating whether articulatory speech synthesis may achieve this low bit rate. At a sampling frequency of 8 kHz, the most comprehensive version of ...
